Case Evaluations

At National Appellate Clinic, we understand the significance of your case, which is why we go above and beyond to provide the best legal assistance possible. Our experienced team will work tirelessly to provide you with the highest standard of service, ensuring that your case is evaluated thoroughly. We are committed to supporting your legal needs with the utmost professionalism and empathy.

All our services, whether advocating for you, assisting you, or representing you, commence with a case evaluation. These evaluations ensure that you are not overcharged.

Have you ever contacted an attorney for help, and despite knowing little about your case, they blindly quote you a price based on what you were charged with?

Case evaluations guarantee that NAC comprehensively understands all the factual, procedural, and substantive legal aspects of your case before determining a price to advocate or represent you. If you hire NAC for a case evaluation, there is no additional fee for assistance.

A case evaluation involves reviewing all necessary court pleadings and documents, such as police reports, search warrants, preliminary examination transcripts, pre-trial transcripts, hearing transcripts, plea transcripts, trial transcripts, motions, briefs, opinions, orders, and any other critical materials relevant to assessing the merits of your appeal or post-conviction options. The goal is to identify constitutional and/or statutory violations to maximize your chances of reversing conviction(s) and/or sentence(s).

Once we complete the evaluation and identify an appellate and/or post-conviction strategy, we'll provide you with a summary and a strategic roadmap for handling your case.

Case evaluation fees are as follows:
- $2,500.00 (for any plea-based case)
- $3,500.00 (for any trial-based case lasting up to 7 days)
- For trials exceeding 7 days, add $500.00 for each additional day. For example, a 9-day trial would incur a $4,500.00 case evaluation fee.

Any fee paid for the case evaluation is credited toward the final retainer. For instance, if we charge you $3,500.00 for the evaluation and later determine it would cost $5,000.00 to represent you, you'll owe only $1,500.00. Once the case evaluation fee is paid, and we have your complete case file, we start work immediately.

Payments can be made via cashier's check, money order (payable to National Appellate Clinic, LLC), credit or debit card (in-office, over the phone, on our website), Zelle, Apple Pay, Venmo, Paypal, or Cash App. Cash may be brought into our office by appointment.

After paying the case evaluation fee, it's your responsibility to forward your complete case file to us. If you don't have it, we'll attempt to obtain it from your prior attorney, current attorney, or the court clerk's office. If costs are associated, we'll inform you or your financial supporter, and it's your responsibility to provide the exact amount. We don't charge extra for obtaining your file, but covering the cost is your or your supporter's responsibility.
